This is it, folks; the fabled “green box” that’s been igniting creativity, passion and sheer awe since Line 6 first released its digitally modeled marvels on the world in 2000. Containing 16 models based* on legendary echo and delay boxes from the storied Maestro® EP-1 Echoplex to the awesome T.C. Electronic® 2290, the DL4 has in turn become a classic in its own right, as popular with guitarists as it is with singers, drummers, bassists, keyboardists, and anyone who wants a pure 24-bit true stereo signal path in the service of delays that run the gamut from gritty and psychedelic to pristine and heavenly.

You’d be insane to pack an original Roland® RE-101 Space Echo or Electro-Harmonix® Deluxe Memory Man into the back of your van for a club tour, but the DL4 packs models of those sounds and many more into a rugged, road-tested steel housing that can run for up to 30 hours on four “C” batteries or with the optional PX-2 power adaptor. Models of classic delay boxes—and the sweet choruses and vibratos that accompany many of them—are just the beginning; the DL4 also boasts innovative sounds like its “Auto-Volume Echo,” which combines a volume swell with a tweakable tape-style echo; or the outstanding “Reverse Delay,” which allows you to play stunning backwards guitar solos on the fly.

You also get those U2-style “Rhythmic Delays” in several metric flavors, super-cool “Ping-Pong Delay” effects, and outrageous stereo panned repeats. No worries: The DM4 lets you dial in models based on* all of these classic boxes—and more, including the Arbiter® Fuzz Face, Big Muff Pi® and ProCo Rat, as well as the more “inside” Colorsound® Overdriver and Vox® Tone Bender—from a simple and rugged steel housing with four metal footswitches that allow you to save and recall four distinct sounds in memory, with six front-panel parameter knobs that give you control over drive, frequency and more.

In just a single box, you’ll find the torrid timbres that players like Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Lukather and others have made part of our collective consciousness, and the DM4 will give you the means to transform those classic tone recipes into something utterly your own. The MM4 features spot-on models based on* classic mod units like the brilliant optical tremolo found in the 1965 Fender® Deluxe Reverb® amp, the badass bias tremolo of the 1960 Vox® AC15, the legendary MXR® Phase 90 favored by Eddie Van Halen, and even the dripping phase effects of the funkadelic Mu-Tron® Bi-Phase. Step into the dimension of rotating speakers with models based on* the Fender® Vibratone and the classic Leslie® 145. You’ll also get models based on* a pair of MXR® and A/DA’s essential flangers, as well as the Boss® CE-1 Chorus Ensemble that made Andy Summer’s shimmering sound the cornerstone of the Police and the signature guitar sound of the Eighties.

Wanna modulate your entire consciousness? Check out the outrageous Ring Modulator, which will turn your guitar into a talking robot from the outer Zarkon system; select between Amplitude and Frequency Modulation and don’t be surprised if a mothership lands on your mixing board. The Mu-tron® Bi-Phase; the Korg® X911 Guitar Synth—are these rebel fighter ships from The Empire Strikes Back? Or maybe proton thrusters from outtakes of Babylon 5? Nope. These, and the other 13 techy tone temptations loaded into Line 6’s galactic-purple FM4 Filter Modeler stompbox, represent the outer limits of guitar filter effects, a territory many consider to be today’s most fertile terrain for discovering new sounds, timbres and tone colors.

In looking forward, Line 6 first looked back, to the filters, vocoders and guitar synths that players from Frank Zappa and Ernie Isley to Robert Fripp and Peter Frampton have made synonymous with creative guitar playing. “The Throbber” will have your tone gurgling with synth-approved LFO from four wave shapes, including square or triangle waves; “Tron Up/Tron Down” literally drips with auto-wah style response in either Low-, Band- or High-Pass varieties; “Synth-O-Matic” simulates the notably nasty filter sections and wave shapes of prized vintage synths from the Prophet® 600 to the legendary Arp Explorer.

Like all Line 6 stompbox Modelers, the DL4 boasts a simple and sturdy front panel design, with four footswitches for saving and recalling your sounds, and six knobs for selecting models and tweaking parameters, with distinct assignments for each knob depending on the model you’ve chosen.
